Michigan State continued their unbeaten streak in duals so far this year, improving to 5-0. MSU travelled to New Jersey on Sunday to wrestle both Binghamton and Princeton. The Spartans cruised to a 29-6 victory over Binghamton, which included wins over ranked wrestlers at 184 and 197. Omania added a pin at 149lbs, while Foley and Saldate both added major decisions.
In the second dual, Michigan State faced their toughest test of the season in Princeton. Malczewski was the key to a Spartan victory, with his second ranked win on the day. Ryan Vasbinder sealed the deal at heavyweight with an upset OT win over #27 Cover. Lujan, Hamdan, and Omania also added wins for the Spartans.

Michigan competed in the annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational over the weekend, and, as usual, it will end up as one of the toughest tournaments of the year. There were five teams in the top-10, including the Wolverines. Michigan had a lead after Day 1, but they would drop to a 4th-place finish after a few injury defaults set the Wolverines back. Mason Parris was the lone champion for Michigan, while Will Lewan was the other top-4 finisher. Michigan will be off until after the Christmas break.
Final Team Scores:
1) Nebraska - 137.5
2) NC State - 127.5
3) South Dakota State - 123
4) Michigan - 96.5
5) Northern Iowa - 96
125lbs - Kurt McHenry: McHenry was putting together a solid tournament before injury defaulting to 8th place. McHenry dropped his second round match in OT to 5-seed Figueroa of Arizona State. McHenry then notched three more wins before injury defaulting, including a 7-4 win over top-25 nationally Ferri of Kent State.
133lbs - Dylan Ragusin: The Wolverine started the tournament with three straight wins, including a 6-1 decision over #25 Rich of South Dakota State. In the semis, Ragusin lost to McGee of Arizona State in a rematch of last year's NCAA quarterfinal. Ragusin ended up taking 5th after a solid win over the 5-seed Latona of Virginia Tech.
141lbs - Cole Mattin: Entering as the 1-seed, Mattin won his first two matches before falling to Brock Hardy of Nebraska. Mattin then lost a 6-2 decision to D'Emilio of Ohio State to finish 2-2.
149lbs - Chance Lamer: The freshman earned a pin and a tech fall in his first two matches before falling to All-American Kyle Parco of Arizona State in the quarterfinals. Lamer then pinned nationally ranked Kamora of Kent State before losing to Arrington of NC State and Realbuto of Northern Iowa to finish 8th.
157lbs - Will Lewan: Will Lewan was Michigan's other 1-seed entering the tournament, but he fell in the semis to Kendall Coleman of Purdue. Lewan then beat Swenson of South Dakota State before defaulting to 4th.
165lbs - Zack Mattin: Mattin drew the 2-seed Ramirez of Cornell to start that tournament, and he dropped that match by a major decision. Mattin then picked up two wins on the backside, including a pin over Andrews of Western Wyoming, before bowing out of the tournament with a loss to Petrucelli of Air Force.
174lbs - Joe Walker: In his first trip to Vegas with the Wolverines, Walker had an excellent start to the tournament. He pinned Cael Valencia, the younger brother of 2x NCAA champion Zahid Valencia. Walker lost two overtime matches to top-8 seeds (Conigliaro of Harvard and DeVos of South Dakota State), and he ended the tournament with a 3-2 record.
184lbs - Matt Finesilver: In the second round, Finesilver earned a 10-1 major decision over the 10-seed of Harvard. In the quarterfinals, Finesilver lost to All-American Trent Hidlay of NC State. Finesilver would end up in 7th after dropping a consolation match to Bolen of Virginia Tech.
197lbs - Brendin Yatoooma: Yatooma started his tournament with a 10-4 decision over Gerlach of Cal Baptist before falling to 3-seed Hoffman of Ohio State. Yatooma would then pick up another win over Jovero of Columbia before being forced to withdraw from the tournament.
285lbs - Mason Parris: Parris was Michigan's lone champion of the weekend, winning his second title in Vegas. Parris earned a pin and tech in his first two matches, and then he dominated 10-seed Trephan of NC State 10-1 to advance to the semis. In the semis, Parris beat Hendrickson of Air Force 12-5 in a rematch of last year's NCAA tournament. In the finals, Parris beat All American Lucas Davison of Northwestern.
