College Week 5 Recap

MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY

Michigan State continued its unbeaten season over the weekend, taking down Brown 38-3. The Spartans, who cracked the top-25 in the rankings this past week, won 9 of 10 matches in the dual. Benny Gomez, a graduate of Holt HS, won his first dual match in a Spartan singlet. Gomez, Foley, Saldate, Fish, Caffey, and Vasbinder all had bonus point victories for MSU.

Up Next: Michigan State will compete at the Reno Tournament of Champions, which starts on December 18th.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY

The Chippewas competed at the Cleveland State Open over the weekend, bringing 22 wrestlers to the event. In all, CMU put 10 on the podium, led by a 1st place finish from Corbyn Munson at 157lbs. Munson, who improved to 10-4 on the season, took down #28 Marcus Robinson of Cleveland State in the finals. Alex Cramer also put together a solid tournament at 174lbs, reaching the finals before losing 7-5 to Max Maylor of Michigan.

Up Next: CMU will travel to New Orleans on December 19th to take on North Carolina and Penn State in the Journeyman Collegiate Duals.
