The Wolverines claimed seven of ten bouts, earning bonus points in three of them. Michigan had back-to-back major decisions at 141 and 149 pounds and a pin at heavyweight, as they handed the Spartans their first dual loss of the season.
Jack Medley opened the dual with a 6-3 win over #25 Lujan before Rayvon Foley had an impressive major decision over #5 Dylan Ragusin at 133lbs. Michigan and MSU split the other ranked matches, which included 157 and 184lbs. Chase Saldate used OT to upset All American Will Lewan at 157lbs, and Matt Finesilver beat #17 Layne Malczewski at 184lbs.
The matches of the dual came at 165lbs and 197lbs. At 165, Cameron Amine used a third period takedown to beat Eaton Rapids HS grad Caleb Fish 3-2. Fish attempted to roll through a takedown attempt in the third period, but it was determined that his hand hit the mat before rolling through, giving Amine the takedown and the win. In college, there is no reaction time for a takedown if a hand touches the mat before rolling through. At 197lbs, Detroit CC HS grad Brendin Yatooma took #15 Caffey to OT. Yatooma was leading late but was hit for stalling with 6 seconds left to send the match to OT. In sudden victory, Yatooma was initially awarded a takedown, but the takedown was waved off by the ref. Caffey would hold on to win 6-5 in the rideouts.
Mason Parris put an exclamation point on the dual with a second period pin over Ryan Vasbinder at 285lbs.

Jack Medley started the dual off with an impressive upset win over #5 Eric Barnett. Medley used a reversal and nearfall in the third period to take the lead. Medley broke the match open with another takedown in the last frame, and was in on a shot late to earn the major decision, but he was unable to finish.
After Dylan Ragusin, Cole Mattin, and Will Lewan all earned ranked victories, Cameron Amine kept the momentum going with a big win over All American Dean Hamiti. Amine used takedown and ride outs in the first and third periods, including a takedown with 10 seconds left in the match, to beat Hamiti in a rematch of last years consi semis of the NCAA tournament.
Mason Parris ended the dual with a 4-0 victory over All American Trent Hillger, who is a graduate of Lake Fenton HS.
