MICHIGAN VS OHIO STATE

#3 Michigan is hosting #6 Ohio State on alumni night Friday in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines are 8-1 in duals this season, with their only loss coming to #1 Penn State. Other than the Nittany Lions, this will be Michigan's biggest test so far this season. Michigan leads 72-21-4 in the all-time series against Ohio State and has claimed five of the last seven meetings, including a 29-8 decision last season in Columbus.

Assuming the Buckeyes bring a full lineup to the dual, they will have 10 wrestlers currently ranked, including 6 in the top-10. There are 9 ranked match-ups in this dual, and a slew of them will be considered swing matches. At 125lbs, Heinselman has been out of the lineup as of late, but either way, Jack Medley is a tough out. 133lbs is a true swing match, where Mendez is a phenom Freshman, and Ragusin was one match away from the podium at the NCAA tournament last season. Interestingly, Mendez has a win over Lucas Byrd, who beat Ragusin in the blood round at the NCAA tournament. Our match of the dual will be at 165lbs, where Cam Amine will see Carson Kharchla. Amine won that match a year ago in sudden victory. To win the dual, the Wolverines will be relying on their returning All Americans (Amine and Parris) to pick up wins. At 285lbs, Parris has the potential to pick up bonus points.

MICHIGAN VS MARYLAND

Michigan will stay at home on Sunday, this time against Maryland. Five Terps are ranked nationally at their respective weights, proving that this Maryland team is up-and-coming. The Wolverines lead 8-1-1 in the all-time series against Maryland with wins in the last six meetings, including a decisive 40-2 win on the road last season. Michigan took nine bouts in that dual, including seven bonus wins.

Our match of the dual here will be at 149lbs, where #20 Lamer will see #18 Miller. The two have never met before, and this match could have significant seeding implications at the Big Ten tournament. Miller has numerous ranked wins on the season, including wins over #19 Moore (Oklahoma) and #31 Hagan (Ohio). Other ranked match-ups include 125lbs and 285lbs. Maryland is anchored up top by unrelated Smith duo. Yatooma has been on the verge of numerous ranked wins so far this season, and he will have another opportunity in this dual.

MICHIGAN STATE VS MARYLAND

#22 Michigan State returns to Jenison Field House on Friday night, this time to take on Maryland at 6:30pm EST. Maryland has had a big turnaround as of late, as they are 8-4 in duals this season. Maryland has proved they are getting increasingly tougher after taking down Pitt, Oklahoma, Virginia, and Navy this season, among others.

However, MSU has solidified itself as a top-25 this season after jumping out to a 7-0 start to the season. MSU has taken a few losses to start the Big Ten slate, but they will look to get back into the win column this weekend, and they believe they can do just that against a tough Maryland team. Each team has 5 ranked wrestlers, including ranked match-ups at both 157 and 197lbs. On paper, the Spartans should be favored in those two matches. If Michigan State can win those two matches, they should be in a good spot to win the dual. Rayvon Foley is in a spot for potential bonus points, and Saldate is a bonus point threat, no matter who he wrestles. Layne Malczewski can also pick up points at a high rate and will be looking for bonus points.

MICHIGAN STATE VS OHIO STATE

On Sunday, MSU hits the road for its fourth road trip in five duals, as the Green & White take the mat against #6 Ohio State inside the Covelli Center. As we mentioned in the preview above, this is a very deep and talented Ohio State lineup. The Buckeyes have all 10 wrestlers ranked, including 6 guys in the top-10. However, Ohio State has generally had 2-3 starters out of their lineup on any given night in recent weeks.

To compete in this dual, Michigan State needs to take full advantage of their winnable matches. At 125lbs, Heinselman has been out of the lineup as of late. If Heinselman is out, that becomes a match MSU expects to win. 133lbs will be a key swing match, as former All American Foley can beat just about anyone. On paper, the Spartans are favored at both 157lbs and 197lbs. Lastly, Caleb Fish has proven he can wrestle with anyone after a few close matches with top-10 wrestlers last weekend, and he has numerous ranked wins this season. The Spartans will need an upset to pull off the win, and 165lbs is a potential spot to look at.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN VS OHIO

On Sunday, CMU travel to the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio, to  take on the Ohio Bobcats, who boasts a 3-1 record in the MAC this season. Meet time is set for 1 p.m. and can ben seen on ESPN+.

The Chippewas are coming off a tough weekend at the Chippewa Challenge at Campbell, whereas Ohio is coming off a 27-18 victory over Cleveland State on Sunday. CMU will be looking to get back into the win column Sunday, and this in-conference dual is a great time to do so. 149lbs and 157lbs are the two matches to watch here, as NCAA qualifiers Lovett and Munson will take on nationally ranked Hagan and Keller. These are two winnable swing matches for the Chippewas, as is 165lbs. The only rematch from last season's dual will be at 184lbs, where Cushman lost a 3-2 decision to Lehman. Add that to the list of swing matches in this dual. The bookends of the dual, 125lbs and 285lbs, are also winnable matches for the Chippewas.
