16U and Junior Nationals - Day 1 Recap

Day 1 of the 2025 16U and Junior Nationals is completed, with girls freestyle now behind halfway done. On the 16U side, 4 girls are still in contention for a national championship, with one more still wrestling in consis.

Team Michigan was extremely impressive for Junior girls, putting 8 girls in the quarters, with 5 more girls still alive to place. A win in tomorrow's quarters locks up All American honors.

Some of tomorrow's biggest matches include #5 Madison Nieuwenhuis against #6 Ava Fodera (CA), #6 Nakayla Dawson vs #9 Kendall Moe (IN), and #8 Maggie Buurma vs #2 Cassandra Gonzales (MN). If Team Michigan can win those three top-10 matchups, they will be in a great spot in the team race.
