With two USAW All-Americans at the front of the pack, there is no "dipping your toe" into the pool at the lightest out of 13 contested weight classes as the action is going to be fierce from the opening whistle....Sitting on the top line of the bracket will be 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational State Champion/2022 Fargo 16U 5th, Zoey Jewett (General Brown), who enters as the #29 overall ranked lady in the nation....Fresh off of a crown at the Dame of Thrones, the second-general superstar (father, Joe, was a 3x State bronze medalist) has been hammering people all season, as she is credited with a perfect 8-0 record this season versus female competition.....
Expected to pose the biggest challenge to the Lions' super sophomore will be the 2023 ESC runner-up/2x Girls Folk Nationals All-American (5th in '22, 4th in '23) out of Section I Arlington, Aislin Kellner....A sectional medalist on the boy's side in the past, Kellner tends to focus predominantly on testing herself against the guys, which means that she is not about to be over-matched or intimidated in the slightest degree...Kellner took home bronze last weekend at the Jamie Mormile Invitational!
Looking to play the role of proverbial spoilers will be the likes of Long Islanders----Jocelyn Rojas (Brentwood) & Bianca Awerman (Commack)....The former [Rojas] has already claimed titles this season at the Queen of the Mat (Copiague), as well as the Bay Shore Girls Tournament...The latter, a fab freshman, was also a Queen in Copiague and later pinned her way through the TOH Girl`s Wrestling Tournament. She finished 5th in the boy's division at the Commack Classic!
And who can forget about returning Girls Invitational State runner-up, Sienna Cozzali (Harrison)....Advancing to the finale before ultimately getting pinned by Jewett, Cozzali is the ultimate sleeper as she is a credentialed individual who has seemingly fallen through the cracks and will sneak up on people who are not paying attention....She has faced mostly male opponents this year, so her 2023-2024 resume does not jump out; but she is a definitive gamer and we would not be surprised to see her make some serious noise!
-----------------------------------------------------------
One of the most loaded fields you will find in the building regardless of gender, no fewer than FIVE 2023 Girls Invitational State medalists are entered into the 107-pound class; and this does not even include the person who is expected to be the top overall seed!!
Spotlighting this "gauntlet" of a bracket will be the young woman that has been hailed by many pundits as "The Natural" and the "The Future", A.K.A. Julianna Hernandez (Newfield/Rocky Point)....Making history last season when she was a Suffolk County Qualifier on the boy's side of the aisle as a 7th grader, Hernandez has only been wrestling for a few years, but took to the sport with such God-Given talent that she has already won multiple USAW age-group national titles....Thus far this season, she has been a one-person wrecking crew up at 114, securing bonus points en route to winning titles at the Queen of the Mat and the Bay Shore Girls Tournament...Included in her onslaught was a mind-blowing :25 pin against 2023 ESC titlist/2023 Girls State runner-up, Mora Peterson (Islip)....
Fellow youngster, Bella Phelps (Sidney), also enters with plenty of buzz attached to her name, as the 2023 Girls Invitational bronze medalist has placed twice in boys' tournament this season, finishing as the runner-up at the Clyde Cole and then following it up with top-5 honors at the Stan Elinsky!!!
Third at the Eastern States Classic a season ago, Maine Girls State Champion, Hannah Perro, has some unfinished business at this event as her only loss was a 3-2 heartbreaker in the semis to Kellner....5th in the 14U Division at 2022 Women's Nationals, the out-of-stater is most certainly going to try to take hardware away from the Evil Empire if the opportunity presents itself!...Perro has placed in the top-6 of multiple boys tournaments this season!
Adding to the depth among this sisterhood of power will be the silver medalist from the 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational, Jasmine Brucato (HFL), who punched her ticket to the state finale last year when she upset the top-seed/2023 ESC 4th, Gabi Severin, in the semifinals...Brucato sustained a loss at the Bill Andersen Memorial Tournament, but rebounded to still earn 3rd!
Talk about stepping on the mat while riding a wave of mojo, JD-CBA senior, Akasha Nunnally, is fresh off of winning the men's title at the Leo J Sammon Tournament and before that, she was a runner-up at the North Country Invitational....3rd at the Girls State Invitational last season, if she made those few small adjustments to fine tune her game, then there is no telling how great she can be during the remainder of her swan song campaign!
Don't sleep on Minisink Valley's Keira Filip either....Hailing from a family of successful grapplers, the Warrior sophomore was 4th at both the ESC and the Girls State Invitational as a 9th grader. Thus far this season, she has been on a tear, winning golds on back-to-back weekends at the Coxsackie-Athens Girls Tournament and the Dame of Thrones!!!
One last name to keep on the tip of your tongue will be 2023 Girls Invitational State 5th, Ava Zucker (Jericho), who took home the title at the TOH Girls Tournament and brings plenty of big match experience with her this weekend!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
While many NYS Girls Wrestling aficionados were hoping to see round #3 of the epic rivalry between the aforementioned Mora Peterson and MV's Sara Pauls (they split with Peterson winning in the 2023 ESC finals before Pauls got her revenge in the Girls State Invitational finale) occur in the finals, the smart money seems to suggest that this battle for bragging rights between Sections 11 and 9 are likely to be settled in the semis as there is an absolute "ringer" and/or bona fide front-runner headlining this bracket!!!...
Ranked 4th in the nation (@120), Choate Rosemary Hall junior, Calli Gilchrist, is the most touted female in the tournament regardless of weight class and has been on a rampage at every stage of her career, winning a 2023 NHSCA National title and earning All-American distinction in Fargo in each of the past three years (Junior runner-up in '23)....To prevent her from winning the top prize would require a Herculean effort, but we trust in the two vaunted fillies above (Peterson & Pauls)...
Peterson, already noted as a the defending ESC champion/state runner-up, has suffered a few losses this season, finishing 3rd at the Queen of the Mat, but has looked in top form of late, as she pinned her way to glory at both the Giampaolo and Bay Shore Girls tournaments....
Pauls, who is not currently nationally ranked, but has made an appearance in the polls previously, suffered her only losses this season while competing out-of-state (Walsh ironman)....However, within the perimeters of NYS, she has been untouchable, winning gold at the UE Wrestling Tradesman, Coxsackie-Athens Tournament, and the Dame of Thrones...Someone who throws with deadly intentions, if she can get a hold of you, you are never safe!!!...Pauls was twice an All-American in 2023, taking 5th at Girls Folk Nationals in March and then complementing it with a 7th at Women's Nationals one month later!
-----------------------------------------------------------
So perfectly described as a "Battle Royal", while 107 is amazing, 120 is downright insane and is without question the "main event" weight class of the weekend in the girls discipline!!
Boasting FIVE NATIONALLY RANKED student-athletes, not including one additional defending ESC Champion, whomever wins this bracket does not deserve a trophy; she deserves a statue to be erected in her honor....
With so much Empire State firepower condensed into a single field, the wrestling Gods are laughing at us when you consider that the anticipated #1 overall seed will be the representative from Massachusetts, Sara McLaughlin....
Ranked 22nd in the land, the Bay State resident was a 2023 Girls Folkstyle National Champion, and took 4th at both NHSCA HS Nationals and Women's Nationals in the U15 age group...She is a two-time State Champion and is regarded as a lock to probably be a future 5xer before she is done on the scholastic level!!!
Attempting to stand in the way of McLaughlin and keep the jewels home in NY will be a decorated contingent comprised of Alexandra Viera, Ashley Diaz, Brooke Tarshis, Yianna Foufas, and RaeAnn Craft!!!!
Viera (Rocky Point), the first of three NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational State champs among this group, presently is the 15th ranked 130-pounder in the country following a monster junior year that in addition to her state crown, saw her take silver at the 2023 ESC (losing only to current University of Iowa freshman, Emily Frost)....A Fargo All-American back in 2021 (16U 5th) who missed time due to injuries, She is regarded as one of the premier 2024 prospects in New York State and has been flawless thus far, winning titles at the Queen of the Mat and the Bay Shore Girls Tournament!!!
Diaz (Seaford), herself a defending NYSPHSAA Queenpin, is ranked just below McLaughlin in the #23 spot of the national charts and finished 3rd at the Eastern States Classic last year...Earning All-American honors in Virginia Beach (8th) following her junior year for the Vikings, she has wrestled a mostly male-centric schedule in 2023-2024, earning runner-up distinction at the Knights Classic and taking 5th and 6th at the Manhasset Invitational and Ralph Jansson Holiday Tournament respectively!
Tarshis, the only non-nationally ranked member of the contenders (she should be ranked) is the defending ESC Champion at this weight class and complemented her gold here by later finishing as the runner-up to Diaz in Syracuse at the NYS State Invitational...A cherished member of the boys squad at Pine Bush, when she did try her hand at going head-to-head with the "stronger sex", she found success, going 4-1 (only loss to the 21st ranked lady in the land) en route to a 5th-place showing at the Beast of the East in Delaware!
Foufas (Mepham), the last of our defending State champs, was actually a double brass ring winner in 2023 as weeks earlier, she was also the last woman standing at the ESC, knocking off NHSCA National Champion/Current #12 ranked (@105), Teegan Sibble, in the finals of both tournaments....Ranked 15th at 115 pounds in the national top-30, took 5th at the 2023 NHSCA Nationals, but did suffer a loss to McLaughlin in a match where she was winning before getting pinned....A bulldozer who never back down from a fight, Foufas recently was the champion in the boys division at the Ted Petersen Tournament, and has prior finishes of 4th and 8th versus gentlemen at the Commack Classic and the Giampaolo!
Never to be overlooked or disregarded is the present-day #19 at 115 pounds, Craft of Owego Free Academy....The bronze medalist in Syracuse behind Foufas and Sibble, Craft really came into her own over the summer when she locked up All-American honors under the roof of the Dome, taking 6th in the 16U division in Fargo....The sophomore River Hawk tasted defeat at 126 pounds, settling for runner-up status at the Linda C. Knuutila Memorial (girls), but ought to be a lot more comfortable and capable at her natural weight!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Fresh off of her commitment to Elmira a few days ago, all signs seem to be pointing at the coronation of Tamarac senior, Ragan Retell, as the 126-pound ESC champion...
A true gem who if not the fact that he landed in the same bracket as a pair of national top-10s last year could already be an Eastern States Classic and NYSPHSAA Champion, the Bengals senior is looking to sweep the table in her final high school season after being a silver medalist in Loch Sheldrake and taking 3rd in Syracuse...
Ranked 13th in the nation at 130 pounds, in addition to her local folkstyle triumphs, the Curby Training Center protege is a two-time Fargo All-American, placing 3rd in in 2021 and then 6th this past summer....invincible this far in 2023-2024, the future Golden Eagle has pinned her way to the hardware at the RCS Girls Round Robin, Coxsackie-Athens Girls Tournament, and the Kristie Stenglein-Davis Girls Tournament!
Attempting to spoil the party for the highly-touted 12th grader out of Section 2 will be a pair of Long Islanders, not to mention a visiting New Englander who all have "upset" on the brain!!
Spearheading this brigade of women looking to make more of a name for themselves will be multiple-time Connecticut Girls State Open medalist (4th in '22 and '23), Lindsey Rywolt (Stratford)...Two wins short of AA honors in Fargo back in 2022, the Red Devil has only been competing for a few years and maintains an incredibly loft ceiling in terms of where her talents can take her. She is hopeful that her time is "now" as opposed to "later"!
Rocky Point's Ava Capogna is not going to do down gently without giving it has best effort....4th at the NYSPHSAA State Invitational last season, the Eagle 11th grader has been a finalist at just about every event she has attended this year, as followed up a runner-up appearance at the Giampaolo Girls Tournament by seizing back-to-back hardware at the TOH Girls Tournament and the Bay Shore Girls tourney...
Crisia Bonilla, who missed the podium at the Girls State Invitational, but did place 4th at the 2023 ESC was the lone person to defeat Capogna this season, as the Great Neck South senior was the titlist at the Giampaolo after previously being a bridesmaid at the Queen of the Mat!...
-----------------------------------------------------------
Wrestling with a chip on her shoulder and an agenda to prove that last season's appearance was the exception and not the rule will be the current national 10th ranked lady (@135), Mia Collins, out of Ballston Spa...
1-2 at the 2023 Eastern States Classic, the Scotties junior did not compete at the NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational, but was afforded the opportunity to put her full arsenal on display in Fargo, as she won nine of her 10 bouts to come home from the Roughrider State as a USAW 16U FS National Bronze medalist (After losing in the blood round in 2022)...
TrackWrestling does not list many results for Collins thus far this season; but that should not matter since the Journeymen Wrestling Club trainee is already a known commodity and her reputation speaks for itself!
While the S2 entry certainly has to regarded as a significant favorite to make amends for DNP in '23, she is not without a handful of foes that could make life very difficult on her!!!!
Standing out among the sorority of hunters will be a name that is all too familiar to the NYS Women's Wrestling peanut gallery, Ms. Jaida Macaluso....
Pinned by Collins at this event a season ago, the "Baby Bully" rebounded from that loss and grew stronger as the season progressed, culminating with a 4th place effort at the Girls State Invitational!!!
Looking to join older sisters---Sofia and Mia, who went back-to-back at 120 and 126 pounds at the inaugural (2020) Women's ESC, the multi-sport standout for Minisink Valley is off to a fast start to her sophomore year, as she finished 7th in Ohio at the Walsh Jesuit Ironwoman and has since followed it up by grabbing gold at the UE Wrestling Tradesman and finishing as a silver medalist at both the Coxsackie-Athens Girls Tournament (lost in the finals to Retell) and the Dame of Thrones (lost to #14 Corynne McNulty; Blair Academy)....
Bringing that ALPHA mentality to this weight class will be East Islip freshman, Makenna Corcoran, who went 1-2 at the 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls State Invitational, but has put that year of varsity experience on her belt and is much improved from one year to the next....Corcoran has medaled twice this season, earning bronze on each occasion at the Queen of the Mat and the TOH Girls Tournament!
Guilderland's Nadia Hawrylchak is no stranger to the grand stage, having twice ventured out to Fargo to hone her craft against the nation's elite....Winless at the ESC last season, we are anticipating a much different result for the Flying Dutchwoman 11th grader, as she has done solid work thus far in 2023-2024, earning 4th at the Niskayuna Girls Tournament and the Coxsackie-Athens, before more recently delivering bronze at the Kristie Stenglein-Davis!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Becoming the first and only two-time Eastern States Classic Women's Champion in history last season when she pinned Retell in the 1st period of their 132-pound finale, you will not find many, if any wrestlers finer in NYS than the current #9 in the country for the Gouverneur Wildcats, Zoe Griffith....
A two-time Fargo All-American who claimed the 16U stop sign last summer, the 3x Section 10 Boys Sectional Champion/NYSPHSAA DII State Qualifier is regarded as one of the top-50 national prospects (#35) on the FloWrestling Girls 2025 Big Board with valid rationale....
An All-American at every stage of her career in both folk and free, in addition to the title in North Dakota, Griffith is a multiple-time NHSCA medalist (2023 runner-up), a 2022 Super 32 placer, and was the 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational State runner-up (losing in the finals to then #1 ranked Emily Sindoni)....
In her 2023-2024 debut, Griffith would compile a 3-1 record (all falls) en route to earning a bronze medalist at the Beast of the East in Delaware!!!
To say that Griffith is the consensus betting favorite would be quite the understatement as her resume trumps than of almost any other young lady in the entire Empire State....But alas, on any given day, everyone is vulnerable and the individuals that are bested suited to play the role of her personal kryptonite include the likes ofTalia Robles, Aniella Kennedy, and Leanne La!!!!
Robles, the senior out of Mepham, is a returning Eastern States Classic 4th who completed her junior campaign by splitting four matches at the 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls State Invitational...A member of the NY National Team in each of the past two seasons, Robles has collected five victories under the Dome and came just two dubs short of AA in the summer of 2022....She has been absolutely en fuego during her senior year, coming, seeing, and conquering the brass rings at the Queen of the Mat, the Giampaolo, the TOH, and just last week, the Dame of Thrones....If anyone has that "fairy dust" in their purse to make magic happen this weekend, it will be the Pirate 12th grader!!
Kennedy Guilderland) shook off a 1-2 showing at last year's ESC by finishing 4th at the Girls State Invitational....Thus far this season, she has registered a pair of bronze medals to her name at the Niskayuna Girls Tournament and the Kristie Stenglein-Davis tourney!
La, who is making the trip from Connecticut, was a 4th place finisher on behalf of Rosemary Choate as a freshman at the 2023 Prep Nationals...
For the sake of embracing a potential Cinderella story, we will throw out the name of Frontier's Avery White as a possible disruptor to the apple cart....Not expected to be blessed with a particularly high seed in the bracket, we do see her as someone who is under the radar and is on the verge of breaking out....A Champion at both the Penfield Hunter Tournament and the Chautauqua Lake Women`s Invitational (not to mention the Linda Knuutila Memorial runner-up), White went 2-2 at the 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Receiving an 11th hour boost when it was announced that the nation's #27 ranked woman, Rebecca Brennan (Homeschooled) had been added off of the wait list, the 145-pound bracket got considerably more exponentially more intriguing now that the 10th grader from the New Paltz area has been factored into the mix....
Projected as a "can't miss prospect" from the time she was a youth wrestler, Brennan was a multiple-time age-group Women's finalist (2021 14U Champion). However, because her educational situation has not afforded her the privilege of partaking in the traditional scholastic schedule where she is receiving weekly exposure, it seemed a lot of people may have forgotten just how good she was...
The reminder of her talents came this past July as she'd get her arm raised in five of her eight outings in Fargo to register an All-American (8th) finish on the 16U level...And now that she has restored herself as a household name, there are no intentions of fading into the background ever again!!
Because Brennan was a late addition to the field, her precise seeding remains unknown; but such is not the case for Ms. Selina Moore (Sherburne-Earlville), who is well aware of the fact that will be be located on the top line following a junior year in which she was the 2023 NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational runner-up...
Committed to wrestle collegiately at Buffalo State, Moore, who fell just one win short of Fargo AA honors in 2021, has wrestled a rather balanced schedule thus far as a senior, going 2-2 in the boys' division of the Clyde Cole to commence the year; but then cruising her way to the ladies title at the Penfield Tournament!
Bringing some of that "nutmeg" flavor to the equation will be two-time defending Connecticut Girls Open State Champion, Kelly Aspras....The first female to be named as a team captain at her high school (Foran), in addition to her in-state triumphs, Aspras was a 2023 NHSCA All-American, placing 6th...Aspras went 1-2 at the 2023 ESC, but is better than that tidbit suggests!
Last year's ESC 4th place shower at this weight class, Lauren Garcia (White Plains), is all back with a vengeance, as the Tiger senior spend much of the past year fine-tuning her craft by making appearance in Virginia Beach and Greensboro....Still seeking her first All-American honors, Garcia has been active on the men's team and is going to be apply what she has learned as a means of serving as a potential upset queen to the desires of the ladies above her!
Saugeries junior, Meredith Mills, is yet another individual that could emerge as a force to be reckoned with....Winless at both the 2023 ESC and the NYSPHSAA Girls State Invitational as a sophomore, she has found her groove in 2023-2024, winning a crown at the Coxsackie-Athens Girls Tournament, finishing with silver at the Giampaolo and Dame of Thrones; and taking bronze at Bay Shore....When you land in the money as often as she has thus far, you must be taken seriously!
-----------------------------------------------------------
While you never want to count anyone out, on paper, the 152-pound bracket seems to be shaping up to be a collision course between nationally-ranked/defending ESC titlist, May Cuyler (Brentsville; VA) and NY's own Brynn Shepardson (Little Falls)....
Meeting in the semifinals of this event last year, Cuyler actually pinned the Mounties' junior [Shepardson] in the 1st period, but neither lady is the same now as growth/development ought to lend itself to a much more competitive rematch!!!
Cuyler, ranked 9th in the nation at 145 pounds, is the defending Virginia Girls State Open Champion, but has especially made her mark in Fargo, where she has twice achieved a podium finish, finishing 5th on the 16U level in '22 and then exceeding it by being a junior bronze medalist in 2023!!!
Shepardson, 3rd at the 2023 Eastern States Classic and 4th at the Girls State Invitational, has come on like gangbusters in the past few months, ascending to the #12 ranking in the country behind matching 4th place showings at USAW Girls Folk Nationals and in Fargo as part of the 16U division....Her star rose even higher when she was able to post a 12-5 decision at a PNL event against defending NYS Girls Invitational titlist, Isabella Gretzinger!.....Thus far as an 11th grader, she was a champion at both the Andersen Girls Wrestling Tournament and the Coxsackie-Athens, while placing 3rd at the Dame of Thrones in a monster bracket that featured Gretzinger and national #6, Sarah Henckel (Blair Academy)...
Liberty senior, Zoe Kip, was a double medalist in 2023, earning bronze at ESC and then following it up with a top-4 at the Girls State Invitational...She was the runner-up to Shepardson at the Coxsackie-Athens and was 5th in that same pool at Dame of Thrones...
-----------------------------------------------------------
Get the popcorn ready for a clash of unbeatens at this weight class as the Evil Empire's highest ranked lady (currently sitting at #4 @155), Adrianna Palumbo (Pleasantville), and Homer's Lilly Sorenson are about to throw-down in what is likely a preview of the 2024 Girls State Invitational finale....
Palumbo, a 3rd place finisher at the NYS Girls State Invitational as a sophomore, has jumped levels ever since, with the Panther standout finishing as the NHSCA National runner-up in March, earning her second straight Fargo AA (16U 8th in 2022; Junior 6th in '23) this past July, and then as a kicker, taking home New York's first-ever belt at the Super 32 in October....
While the majority of the activity she has seen this season has come against male counterparts (she is beating them at a steady rate), the GPS trained diamond does own women's titles at the Coxsackie-Athens and the Dame of Thrones!!!
Sorenson, whose family name is synonymous with glory (older brother, Sam, was a 3x State Champion; NHSCA National runner-up; and a Junior GR Fargo AA), is certainly carving her own legacy, as she was the NYS Girls Invitational runner-up last season and has not taken her foot off the gas in 2023-2024, claiming gold at the Andersen Girls Wrestling Tournament, the Blindmen's Invitational, and the Ken Haines memorial...
With Palumbo going up in weight from where she is listed in the polls and Sorenson making the massive cut down from where she claimed state silver (185), it will be interesting to see if size materializes as a mitigating circumstance in the bout!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps the most up for grabs title among the 12 contested weight classes, there are no established killers among the entries, but plenty of capable women just eying the opportunity to announce their presence with authority....
Liberty sensational sophomore, Cheyenne Graham, is a week removed from taking the crown at the Dame of Thrones and was previously 7th at the Coxsackie-Athens!!!
Greisy Penalo (Bronx Science), was a 2023 NYC freestyle Champion all the way up at 255 pounds; so as long as she had a smooth cut, she ought to enjoy a strength advantage over anyone that goes toe-to-toe with her this weekend!! Last week she delivered a title-winning effort at the Bronx Science Girls Tournament at her new weight class; previously she was 3rd up at 225 at the Cardozo event!
Tiarra Guan (Great Neck South) is likely the most battle-tested combatant, as she has tested herself on the national circuit at both Fargo and the Super 32...In two tournament appearances this season, she has garnered runner-up distinction at the Queen of the Mat, and was 3rd at the Giampaolo!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Lowering the curtain on the party will be a quintet of feminine strength in the persons of Naomi Gonzalez (Valley Stream North), Norma Avila (Middletown), Patricia Deslandes (Minisink Valley), Rumerkis Sosa (Bronx Science), & Destinee Seward (Port Jervis)....
The prohibitive favorite, Gonzalez, a 2023 NYS Girls Invitational State silver medalist, is by far the most well-known of the pairing, as she is a Team NY National Team member, coming just two victories short of the podium in Fargo last summer...Only a sophomore, her best wrestling still awaits her in the future, but she is already pretty darn good as evident by the fact that she has bulldozed her way to individual titles at both the Queen of the Mat and the Bay Shore Girls Tournament....
Avila, a junior for the Bears, was the champion at the Coxsackie-Athens Girls Tournament!
Deslandes, who went 1-2 as a participant at the 2023 NYS Girls State Invitational, has been in the title picture at every event she has entered in 2023-2024, as she wrestled her way to runner-up distinction at the UE Tradesman, the C-A Girls (lost to Avila in the finale), and just last week at the Dame of Thrones...On the cusp of standing on the top step, one small correction might be all it takes for her to climb over that last hurdle!
Sosa, the PSAL/NYC Girls runner-up at this weight class a season ago, has gone 2-for-3 in claiming titles this season, as she snatched the prize at the Cardozo and the Jay Alvarez before finishing 2nd at Bronx Science!!
Like Avila and Deslandes, as a local girl, Seward will have the crowd in her corner as she tries to defy the odds and go from rags to riches in the role of the underdog...
