157- Darius Marines (Detroit Catholic Central) SR
Marines bonused his way through the D1 state tournament to become the 36th wrestler in MHSAA history to become a 4x state champion. He joins Kevon Davenport and Dylan Gilcher as the only Shamrocks to reach that feat. After reaching the podium at the prestigious Super 32 tournament in October, Marines went on to an unblemished 50-0 Senior campaign, which drove his career record up to 138-9. Marines also won state titles at 145lbs as a Freshman, 152lbs as a Sophmore, and 157lbs as a Junior, and he adds two team state titles to his impressive resume.
106- Jarrett Smith (Lowell) SO
Smith put together an outstanding Sophomore campaign, starting with picking up bonus points through the Grappler Fall Classic and winning a national championship last summer in Fargo, as he won the 16U Freestyle title at 94lbs. Smith didn't slow down during the MHSAA season, also earning bonus points through the D2 state tournament. The Red Arrow also won the Grappler Gold Invitational and Carnahan Memorial Invitational (Indiana), and took 2nd at the Brecksville Invitational (Ohio) during his 38-1 season.
113 - Wyatt Lees (Detroit Catholic Central) SO
Wyatt Lees earned his second D1 state championship in as many trips this season, pinning his way through the state tournament, with three of those pins coming in the first period. Lees ended the season with a 49-5 record, while winning the Catholic Central Invitational, taking 4th at the Wadsworth Invitational (Ohio), and earning 3rd at the Brecksville Invitational (Ohio). Lees also placed 5th on a loaded Grappler Fall Classic bracket and earned a podium spot at 16U Nationals in Freestyle over the summer.
120 - Nick Sorrow (Hudson) SO
Sorrow won his second state championship for the Hudson Tigers this season. In the offseason, Sorrow reached the podium in Fargo, placing 7th in 16U Freestyle. He also placed 7th at the Grappler Fall Classic in the preseason. During the MHSAA season, Sorrow won the Grappler Gold Invitational and Hudson Super 16 tournament, and he was a finalist at the Catholic Central Invite. He finished the season with a 52-1 record.
126 - Grayson Fuchs (Detroit Catholic Central) FR
Grayson Fuchs had a breakout Freshman campaign for the Shamrocks, winning a D1 state championship at 126lbs. Fuchs was dominant all season, only giving up 5 takedowns in a loaded schedule. Fuchs won the Catholic Central Invitational and Wadsworth Invitational (Ohio) and helped lead the Shamrocks to a second straight team state championship. The Freshman ended the season with a 42-6 record.
132 - Jackson Blum (Lowell) JR
Blum continued his quest for four state titles, this time winning at 132lbs. Should the Red Arrow win another individual and team state title next season, he would join exclusive company as wrestlers that have won 8 combined MHSAA state championships. Blum was 35-1 this season, winning the Brecksville Invitational (Ohio) and taking 3rd at the Carnahan Memorial Invitational (Indiana). Before the season, Blum earned a 3rd place finish at the Grappler Fall Classic and reached the podium at Super 32s.
138 - Michael Wilson (Grand Rapids Catholic Central) JR
Mikey Wilson had an abbreviated season as he was coming back from injury, but he made the most of it. He won a 138lb state championship while going an unblemished 18-0 on the season. Of Wilson's 18 wins this season, 14 of them came by pin. The future Michigan Wolverine is now a 3x state placer with a chance to repeat as state champion next season.
144 - Blake Cosby (Dundee) SO
After reaching the finals of the Grappler Fall Classic in October, Cosby cruised to a 44-1 record this season, winning every tournament he entered. He won the Grappler Gold Invitational, Catholic Central Invite, Brecksville Invitational (Ohio), Carnahan Memorial Invitational (Indiana), and the Hudson Super 16, beating a few nationally ranked guys along the way.
150 - Mason Stewart (Detroit Catholic Central) SR
Mason Stewart capped off his Detroit Catholic Central career with an individual state title to go with his two team championships. Stewart ended his final MHSAA season with a 50-3 record while reaching the finals of both the Catholic Central Invite and Wadsworth Invitational (Ohio) and earning a 3rd place finish at the Brecksville Invitational (Ohio). Stewart leaves the Shamrock program as a 3x placer.
157 - Jay'Den Williams (Roseville) SO
Williams is now a 2x D1 state finalist, this time reaching the finals at 157lbs. Williams had a dominant Sophomore season, going 49-1 and picking up 24 pins and 13 tech falls. Before the season, Williams won the varsity division of the Grappler Fall Classic with a pin in the finals. Last summer, Williams earned a 3rd place finish at the 16U Greco National Championships in Fargo and was a match away from being a double All American.
165 - Tyler Schofield (Olivet) SR
Schofield became Olivet's first state champ in 25 years this season, winning a D3 title at 165lbs. Schofield was a perfect 57-0 on the season, winning 41 of those matches by fall. Schofield also earned a podium finish at the Grappler Fall Classic this past October, finishing 5th at 171lbs in the Elite division. Schofield added in-season titles at the Jim Mooney Classic in Williamston and the Todd Stern Blackhawk Invitational.
175 - Gavin Craner (Whitehall) JR
Gavin Craner was perfect this season for Whitehall, going 54-0 in his Junior campaign. Craner won every match by bonus points this season, including 47 by a pin. To go with his impressive MHSAA season, Craner was dominant in the 16U Freestyle and Greco duals for Team Michigan last summer, going a combined 11-1 across the two styles, and he finished 5th at 16U Freestyle Nationals in Fargo.
190 - Cole O’Boyle (Alma) SR
O'Boyle was 48-0 on his way to an individual state championship for the Alma Panthers this season. During the regular season, O'Boyle won the tough New Lothrop Hall of Fame tournament, the Joe Loren Invitational, and he cruised through the Hudson Super 16 tournament. Of his 48 wins, O'Boyle won 34 by bonus points, including 31 by pin.
215 - Connor Bercume (Detroit Catholic Central) JR
Bercume kickstarted his Junior campaign with an impressive preseason, including a Grappler Fall Classic championship and a spot on the podium at Super 32s. He kept that momentum going, winning his second consecutive D1 215lb state championship this season. Bercume finished with a 43-3 record, while reaching the finals of the Brecksville Invitational (Ohio), Catholic Central Invite, and Wadsworth Invitational (Ohio).
285 - Ryan Ahern (Rockford) SR
Ahern had an outstanding final season of his career, going 49-1 en route to a D1 state championship. A first place finish at the Catholic Central Invite had Ahern ranked inside the top-20 nationally. Ahern accumulated 31 pins on the season, including two at the state tournament.
