The NUWAY National Duals went down in Columbus, OH on the campus of Ohio State University last weekend, side by side with the NWCA College National Duals.
Teams were in attendance from across the country with California, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia among the list of states represented.
The State of Michigan was out in full force with multiple teams entered in each age division, however, the overall competetive level of the tournament came out as the highest placing Michigan team in any division was 6th place in the 10&U division.
Read below for a look at how Michigan fared in each age division as well as some of the standout individual performances from each age division.
Team MYWAY Red & Black went 2-1 in their pool to advance to the Championship Gold Bracket. MYWAY beat Team North Carolina (NCWAY Red) 43-12 and Ohio (OH-WAY) 46-11, but fell 29-27 to Team Iowa.
In the Championship Bracket Red & Black lost their opening two round bouts to Iowa DC Elite and Team SCWAY (California), then finished with a win over NCWAY Blue (North Carolina) to finish in 7th place for the tournament.
MYWAY Black & White was 3rd in Pool A while MYWAY Blue/White finished 3rd in Pool D.
Individually, a pair of Michiganders went a perfect 6-0 in the 13-14 division, AJ Facundo of Davison at 101lbs and Keegan Yuhas of Lowell at 143lbs.

80lbs - Corey Gamet, 5-1
95lbs - Austin Boone, 5-1
95lbs - Daniel Poupore, 5-1
101lbs - AJ Facundo, 6-0
136lbs - Brian Case, 5-1
136lbs - Joseph Muzzin, 4-1
143lbs - Keegan Yuhas, 6-0

Team MYWAY Red and Black finished 2nd in their pool with a 3-1 pool record, suffering just one loss 41-22 to Team Iowa, to advance to the Silver Pool.
Red and Black dropped their final two to finish 4th in the Silver pool, 8th overall for the Tournament.
MYWAY Black and White was 4th in Pool B while Blue and White was 5th in Pool D.
Mark Schaeffer (105lbs) led the way with a unscathed record for the Red and Black and squad while Dominick Lomazzo (70lbs) and Dustin Solomon (115lbs) each went 5-1 on the tournament.
65lbs - Hunter Assenmacher, 4-2
70lbs - Dominick Lomazzo, 5-1
90lbs - James Whitaker, 4-2
95lbs - Anthonie Taylor, 4-2
105lbs - Mark Shaeffer, 6-0
115lbs - Dustin Solomon, 5-1
125lbs - John Shelton, 4-2
260lbs - Steven Kolcheff, 4-1
260lbs - Easton Turner, 4-2
Team MYWAY finished in the Top 6 of this loaded age division that included 15 top notch teams from 10 different states.
MYWAY (Red/Black) finished 2nd in Pool A with a 2-1 record, defeating All-American (PA) 43-23 and Team NYWAY (New York) 33-25, but falling 53-9 to Team Iowa.
In the Championship Pool, MYWAY fell 53-15 to the California SCWAY Dream Team but bounced back to beat NCWAY (North Carolina) 42-28 to advance to the 5th place match where they lost 32-18 to Team Illinois.
Caden Natale led the Red/Black team with a perfect 6-0 showing to lead the way at 90lbs. Stoney Buell (85) was 5-1 and Bryce Cheney (75) was 4-2 to also set the pace for the Red and Black team.
Chase Helzer went 5-0 for the Blue and White Team at 115lbs and Julius Garza (100lbs) shined as well, going 4-1.

Team MYWAY (Red/Black) finished 4th in their pool after going 2-3 with wins over Ohio and Pennsylvania. They moved into the 7th/8th place match where Team MYWAY lost 37-12 to finsh 8th overall.
MYWAY Blue & White finished 9th overall with a 2-5 final record.
Leading the way for Michigan individually in the 8&U division was Vinnie Abbey and Brady Benson with 5-1 records.
