Austin Franco will be one of the top incoming freshman in the state of Michigan next year, and over the past year he was one of the top 8th graders in the country.
Franco won the Michigan Grappler Fab 50 to become the 7th recipient of MI Grappler Youth Wrestler of The Year.
Franco's season was dominant from start to finish. He won the Grappler Fall Classic Middle School Division and was runner-up in the High School Division as well.
He also won the Border Wars Nationals, Great Lakes Championships, Liberty Nationals, and NUWAY Nationals. He placed 6th at the Tulsa Nationals and was also 3rd at the Viper Pit.
In terms of in-state competetion, he won the MYWAY State Title as well as the Cadet Freestyle State Title.
Franco finished with 223 points, 11 points ahead of Stoney Buell who finished runner-up. Kevon Davenport and Dominick Lomazzo also finished with over 200 points to round out the top 4.
The top 10 finishers in the Fab 50 standings will earn automatic berths on the Michigan Grappler All-Future Youth Dream team, which will be honored at the 2014 Grappler Fall Classic on October 18th in Battle Creek.

Initial Fab 50 events to mark on your calendar are the Indian Proving Grounds in Hartford, MI on September 28th and the Grappler Fall Classic on October 18th in Battle Creek.
