Brecksville has some major fire power and also appears to be quite well rounded. They have a tough day ahead with 4 of the top 8 ranked schools in Michigan, but all the duals will be very winnable. Those in attendance should keep an eye on Assad throughout the day. He’s currently ranked #8 in the country at his weight class and has committed to continue his career at the University of Michigan next season.

This will be a good gauge for the Cardinals. They have some serious firepower but are also a bit on the young side this season. They should win handily in their final couple of duals with Bedford and Rochester, but will be underdogs early in the day against St Ed’s and Brecksville. If you’re there be sure to watch Olson whenever you can. He’s the #12 132lbr in the country and a future Oklahoma State Cowboy.

This young Shamrock team has already made some significant strides over the first half of the season and will look to continue their progress on Saturday. However, all 4 of their scheduled duals will be dogfights, and there’s no guarantee they walk out with a win. Amine is another special talent that will be competing. The University of Michigan commit is ranked #13 in the country at 160 and will likely crack the top 10 when rankings are next updated.

The Vikings are a little thin at the top and bottom of the lineup, but have a wealth of talent and versatility in the middle. They are another team that will be very competitive in all of their duals, but the competition is so strong that they could end going winless if they aren’t on top of their game. The guy to watch on this squad is Whitman. He’s ranked as one of the country’s top 5 freshman regardless of weight class.

The Tigers have a pretty good draw and there’s a good chance they will be undefeated heading into their final dual of the day against DCC, which figures to be a barn burner. They may not have any nationally ranked guys, but this is a rock solid team across the board with plenty of experience wrestling against high level competition.

I commend Rochester for attending a tournament of this caliber, but they will be in for a tough day. Despite having some success at this tournament the past couple years, the Falcons have graduated a lot of talent and don’t currently have any established guys in their lineup.

St Edward

On paper, St Edward probably has the best top to bottom lineup of anyone in attendance. This year’s squad doesn’t feature the national superstars of past Eagle’s squads, but they have a very good dispersion of talent across the board. Hart in particular is having a great season, and it has earned him a #13 national ranking for his weight class.

Many expected this would be the year the Red Wings fell off a bit. While they may not be one of the top-5 teams in the country like a couple years ago, they are still very much a national powerhouse. They’ll be in for a tough day on Saturday, and I’m intrigued to see how they measure up against Ohio powers Brecksville and St Eds. The top guy to watch is definitely Massa. The future Michigan Wolverine is one of the top 5 high school wrestlers in the country regardless of weight.

Of the 10 teams in attendance I’m least familiar with Solon’s roster, but I’ve watched them wrestle at this event the past few years and have seen enough to gather that they are a very solid program that will always fill their lineup with tough, competitive kids. This year’s squad doesn’t feature any big names, but seems to be pretty solid across the board and capable of winning a couple duals.

This is a relatively young and unheralded squad by Bedford standards, but there’s still a good chance they wind up wrestling at Kellogg Arena in the state quarterfinals next month. They’re in for a tough day, but I think they have a good shot to win 2 duals against Rochester and Solon as well as to push Hudson in round 1.

Anyone know if these duals are on track or flo? Just curios, I've looked at all the websites and can't find the tournament anywhere. I don't even see it listed on track as an upcoming tournament. Thanks

Last year it was on track. DCC has been good about that the past couple of years.

I imagine they'll have one up there in the morning for us to oogle and oggle over.

At least I hope they do.
