Nationally ranked Lowell & Brighton set to square off at MSU

TOP PREP SQUADS TO BATTLE BEFORE SPARTANS DUAL WITH WISCONSIN

Tomorrow morning Michigan's top two nationally ranked squads will battle as a warm up match in East Lansing before the Spartans square off with #11 ranked Wisconsin.

Brighton, ranked #1 in D1, and Lowell, #2 in D2, will hit the mats at 10:30am

in Jenison Fieldhouse and the Spartans and Badgers will follow at 1:00pm.

Brighton comes in undefeated on the season, ranked #43 in the country by InterMat, and is hot off a 38-18 win over D1 #4 Hartland on Wednesday night.

The returning State Champion Red Arrows, meanwhile, took their first loss of the season last Sunday in an upset narrow loss to Hartland, but bounced back in a big way, downing D1 #5 Detroit CC 39-22 on Friday night in Ann Arbor prior to the UM-Wisconsin dual.

Tomorrow morning, the two power squads will square off in what could very well be a meeting of this year's D1 and D2 state champs.  

Between the two squads there is 20 ranked individual wrestlers and there is potentially 7 weights that we will feature a ranked D1 wrestler from Brighton and a ranked D2 wrestler from Lowell, most notably the potential rematch of #1s at 215lbs with Josh Colegrove (L) and Luke Ready (B).  The two met in the DCC Invite finals, with Colegrove winning 3-2.
