First look at the next Reclassification Cycle

Nothing will be settled until mid December, but the GHSA has released its initial classifications for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 seasons. There is a lot to be discussed, and I have a feeling there may be some changes to the significant changes that have already been proposed and initially ratified. We will obviously take a much closer look at things once the Executive Committee has finalized everything, but in the short term it is fun to look at some of the possibilities. Please remember this is before any appeals, up or down, and its before any schools get adjusted due to other schools moving. For now its fun to look at some of the new matchups that we could see.

2 significant/possible changes that we could see with the next cycle include the elimination of 7A. However before you get too excited about reducing the number of classifications to 6, the GHSA has approved pulling out all Private schools in classes 1A-3A to create a different/new classification. We aren't really sure how that will look for wrestling, but it is very possible that it will apply to all sports, which would mean we would still have 7 classes, stay tuned to this site, as we will update the significant changes once they are finalized.
