There is some incredibly tough wrestling happening around the state this weekend, starting with Detroit Catholic Central vs Lowell and Yale vs Algonac tonight. The Hudson Super 16 will headline individual tournaments for the weekend, while the Gary Rivers Memorial Duals, hosted by Lowell, will highlight the dual tournaments. We already gave On Papers for tonight's duals, as well as a preview of all ranked wrestlers for the Hudson Super 16, so we outline what the rest of the weekend looks like here. We give quick previews for:
Gary Rivers Memorial Duals (Lowell)
Holt Duals
Lakeshore Duals
Jim Mooney Classic (Williamston)

There will be five ranked teams in attendance for this one, with Lowell vs Davison being the premier dual of the day should that one happen. We would also really like to see Bay City John Glenn wrestle both Rockford and Lakewood. We can't give an On Paper for every ranked dual that may or may not happen, but we give previews of a couple duals we would love to see.
D2 #1 Lowell
D1 #3 Davison
D2 #7 Bay City John Glenn
D1 #7 Rockford
D3 #9 Lakewood
Outlook: This is a fantastic dual, with most teams having someone ranked at almost every weight class. Lowell has won eleven straight Division 2 state championships, while Davison has won two Division 1 state championships in the last 4 years. For Davison to win this one, they would likely to have to win all of the swing matches. That would mean winning weights like 106, 175, 215, and 285. We saw a few of these matches at GGI this year: Vaughn beat Cichocki 6-3, Segorski teched Jelinek, and Engle teched Savage. Davison may need to make up some points in those two losses to swing this dual their way.
Prediction: Lowell +12
Outlook: Rockford took a tough loss to OK Red rival Grandville on Wednesday and will be looking to bounce back against a few ranked teams. We really like this dual between D1 #7 Rockford and D2 #7 BCJG. If John Glenn wants a chance to take down the Rams, they will need to win some matches like 106 and 138, which are swing matches against extremely tough guys ranked top-10 in D1. 138 would be our match of the dual between state placers Fitzpatrick and Greer. BCJG could also pick up some wins at weights like 132, 144, and 165.
Prediction: Rockford +8
Outlook: Similar to the Rockford/BCJG dual, but we give John Glenn the edge on this one. Lakewood could really make things interesting if they can go on a run from 175 on up. BCJG likely has too much firepower between 106 and 165 where they are ranked in nearly every weight. 132 would be a match to watch between Kukulski and Stamm in a battle of top-10s.
Prediction: John Glenn +18
Hastings is still unbeaten on the year and has maintained a spot in the top-10 most the season, but they will likely see their biggest challenge so far this year in Bedford. Assuming that dual happens, we give that On Paper, although there will be other interesting duals tomorrow, like a potential Romeo/Westland John Glenn matchup. Cedar Springs is also back in the top-10 in D2 following a big win over conference rival Greenville on Wednesday.
D1 #6 Bedford
D1 #8 Hastings
D2 #9 Cedar Springs
D1 HM Romeo
D1 HM Westland John Glenn
Outlook: Bedford has more ranked guys throughout the lineup, with 9 guys currently ranked. Hastings also has a solid lineup throughout, and they've beaten some ranked teams like D2 Greenville. Both Sutfins have an opportunity for some much needed bonus points in this one. Not sure it makes sense from a team standpoint, but if Hastings were to bump Keegan Sutfin to 165, that would create a top-5 showdown with #2 Miracle. Likewise, Friddle probably needs to stay home to beat McCloud, but bumping him (as Hastings often does) would create another top-5 showdown between state placers at heavyweight.
Prediction: Bedford +12
Outlook: This should be a fantastic dual between West side teams. Both teams beat Greenville this season in duals that came down to the last match. There should be a number of ranked matches in this one, although it may benefit Cedar Springs to do some bumping around to try to win the dual. One example would be 157, where they may want to bump Parmeter up and trade pins at 157/165. If they don't bump, that is our match of the dual between state placers Sutfin and Parmeter. Other studs on each team should be looking for big bonus points, like Cassiday and Egan for Cedar Springs, and Hunter Sutfin and Friddle for Hastings. This dual could come down to a few unranked matchups.
Prediction: Hastings +3
Three Rivers and Mason is the big match at this one. Both teams are ranked top-5 in D2, and while Three Rivers has held the #2 spot all year, Mason has been making a late season push to climb the rankings. Another potential dual we want to see is Hudsonville vs Lakeshore, where two West Michigan teams are both just outside the top-10 in their divisions.
D2 #2 Three Rivers
D2 #4 Mason
D1 HM Hudsonville
D2 HM Stevensville Lakeshore
Outlook: Depending on seeds at team state (and assuming both teams make it through loaded team regionals), this could have big seeding implications. On paper, Three Rivers will be favored in at least 5 matches, while Mason will be favored in at least 4. This dual will be decided by those other 4 matches (106, 113, 120, and 132). That may favor Three Rivers, as unranked wrestlers like Morrill and Babcock are extremely tough. We chose two matches of the dual for this one, should they happen. We have the potential for a battle of state placers at 138 as Moreland and Ambs both placed a year ago. At 175, both Vankirk and Smith were state qualifiers, although Smith was unable to compete due to injury. Three Rivers should be favored with potential bonus points at the upperweights.
Prediction: Three Rivers +8
The 62nd annual Jim Mooney Classic is back this weekend, and it is always one of the toughest tournaments of the season. We will see five ranked teams representing each division, including the host D3 #6 Williamston. There's an opportunity for 75+ ranked wrestlers to compete this weekend, and most weights have the potential for a top-5 showdown.

We really like this tournament, as we haven't had a chance to see Cadillac much this year, who's on one of the best runs in school history. They will get a crack at D2 foes Freeland and Greenville in some individual matches. Freeland and Greenville get a bit of a preview into their end of year dual coming up in a few weeks. Hart has also held steady in the top-10 in D3 and should have a strong showing this weekend. TBD if D4 #7 Lakeview is sending their A team to Reed City or Ithaca this weekend. Lowell's B team should be in attendance, so they will likely send a few ranked wrestlers, but we won't be sure who they bring with them to the Gary Rivers duals and who they send to Reed City.
