Tournament Brackets & Live Results
Penn State ran away with the team title at the NCAA Tournament, but the University of Michigan was in the middle of a 7-8 team race for 2nd and inevitably ended up in 3rd. The 3rd place finish snagged the Wolverines a "trophy" finish for the 2nd time in three years after finishing runner up in Detroit in 2022.
Michigan had 4 all-americans, including a pair of NCAA Finalists in Austin Gomez and Lucas Davison who both finished runner-up.
Two Michigan natives finished as all-americans with former 4x Dundee State Champ Casey Swiderski finishing 7th at 149lbs and Warren Fitzgerald grad Taye Ghadiali finishing 8th at 285lbs.
Swiderski, a true sophomore at Iowa State, got on the podium after finishing a match short last year and losing in the blood round at 141lbs.
Ghadiali, a junior for Campbell University, became Campbell's 2nd All-American in program history. He was a state champ his senior year at Warren Fitzgerald and has had an impressive rise to national notoriety at Campbell.

DAY 2 - QUARTERFINALS & CONSIS
Michigan had a strong 1st Friday session, advancing 4 wrestlers to the semifinals in Dylan Ragusin (133), Austin Gomez (149), Shane Griffith (174), and Lucas Davison (285). Davison and Griffith had come from behind wins in the 3rd period.
The Wolverines also have Cam Amine (165) wrestling in the blood round tonight, one win from all-american status, and they sit 2nd in the team standings after the quarterinfal with a 6pt lead over Airzona State in 3rd.
Central Michigan has Johnny Lovett still alive in the blood round and will need a big win over #3 seed MEyer Shapiro of Cornell in thet blood round.
MSU's last two competitors Caleb Fish and Layne Malczewski were knocked out in the consolation round of 16 this afternoon.
Michigan natives Casey Swiderski (Iowa State/Dundee), Braeden Davis (Penn State/Dundee), Josh Edmond (Mizzou/DCC), Will Feldkamp (Iowa State/Dexter) and Taye Ghadiali (Campabell/Warren Fitzgerald) are also alive on the backside to make all-american status.
Tonight's session kicks off 8:00pm EST, live on ESPN. Semifinalists are locked in All-Americans, the blood-round guys are one win from the podium.

SESSION 2 RECAP
Michigan pushed 5 guys to the quarterfinals, one win from locking in All-American status. In addition, Dundee grads Braeden Davis (Penn State) and Casey Swiderski (Iowa State) each won to advance to the quarters.
Michigan has their other 4 qualifiers still alive on the backside while MSU and CMU each have a pair of guys alive on the backside tomorrow. All consolation wrestlers will need 3 consecutive wins tomorrow to earn all-american honors.
The biggest win of Friday's night session was DCC grad Cam Amine moving one win from his 4th All-American honor. Amine knocked off returning All-American Olejnik of Oklahoma State in overtime to avenge an early season loss to the Cowboy. He has #2 undefeated freshman Mesenbrink of Penn State tomorow.
Action resumes Friday at Noon EST with quarterfinals and wrestlebacks.

SESSION 1 RECAP
The opening session in Kansas City consisted of the Pigtails and the Championship Round of 32.
The University of Michigan had a strong opening session going 8 for 9 and sits 3rd in the team standings heading into tonight's Round of 16 and Wrestleback session.
MSU and CMU each advanced one wrestler on the front side to the round of 16.
Macomb Dakota native Layne Malczewski scored a big 1-0 upset over #10 Dylan Fishback of NC State to advance at 184.
Alex Cramer of CMU scored a fall in round 1 to advance at 174.
