Breakdown: Michigan Lutheran Seminary makes their first appearance at Team State and will take on defending champ Hudson. The Tigers roll out eight wrestlers ranked inside the top four, so the end result will likely not be in question. MLS did put eight through to the regionals, so they have a solid lineup and will be competitive in the coming years as well. But the Tigers simply have too much. Hudson by 50.
Breakdown: Third meeting of the year between the #4 and #5 seeds. They split back in December; Manchester won by 11 and then Bronson by 4. Both squads have some flexibility with their lineups but there should be 2-3 individual matches that decide this one. Bronson will need to snag a couple wins in the lower weights, while Manchester has to do the same in the mid/uppers. Probably as evenly matched as any dual in the quarterfinal round. Bronson by 3.
Breakdown: Both squads from the northern individual region, so there are a few individual head-to-heads. Benzie is looking for their first semifinals appearance and has a good path to do it. Iron Mountain has been close to playing spoiler in the opening rounds before, and once again brings a solid lineup with half a dozen state qualifiers. Benzie has wrestled as tough of a schedule as anyone in the division so they should be battle tested, and based on last weekend's individual results, they aren't slowing down. Expect some great matches throughout the dual, but in the end Benzie should move on. Benzie Central by 24.
Breakdown: Another great opening round matchup betwen two semifinalists from a year ago, the #2-seed St. Louis and #7-seed Martin/Climax-Scotts. The teams have basically mirroring lineups, so that will make it interesting from an individual matchup perspective. Could very easily be looking at a 7-7 split, but likely an 8-6 in favor of the Sharks. That being said, this dual being on Friday and not Saturday makes a difference as well. Expect an outstanding dual either way. St. Louis by 6.
