Super 32 Recap and Records

Michigan had 6 wrestlers reach day 2 on the boys side, including one in the semis and one in the blood round. Blake Cosby (Dundee) put together an outstanding tournament, reaching the finals and becoming Michigan's only placer. Cosby started the tournament with 6 straight wins, including 5 decisions and a major. Cosby had two ranked wins, including a big win in the semis over Brown commit and top-10 nationally ranked Devon Magro (PA). Cosby also earned a 4-2 decision over Oklahoma State commit Beau Hickman (OK). In the finals, Cosby would drop a 20-5 tech to #1 Landon Robideau (MN).

Connor Bercume (DCC), the only returning placer for Michigan, reached the blood round before dropping a 2-1 decision to Ashton Honnold (IA). Jarrett Smith (Lowell), Mason Katschor (Dundee), Don Beaufait (Dundee), and Reid Hiltunen (Algonac HS) were all two wins from placing, reaching the consolation round of 12 before bowing out of the tournament.

On the girls side, Michigan was dominant as always. Kaili Manuel was the biggest highlight, as she joined Jackson Morse (Lowell) as the only Michigan wrestlers to win back-to-back Super 32 belts. Manuel picked up two techs before a 10-2 decision over #15 Snider (PA) in the semis. In the finals, Manuel cruised to an 8-3 decision over #7 Alli (OH). Kaili Manuel's sister, Belicia, was the other Michigan Grappler to reach the finals. Belicia ultimately dropped a 10-2 decision to #2 Lasure (PA) in the finals. Also placing for the girls were Alexis Lazar at 132lbs, Madison Nieuwenhuis at 100lbs, and Margaret Buurma at 138lbs.
