Episode 1: Tony Greathouse
Tony Greathouse is a prominent figure in the wrestling community, known for his accomplishments as a collegiate athlete, coach, entrepreneur, and advocate for the sport.
Greathouse’s wrestling journey began at Mason High School in Michigan, where he was a four-year letterwinner under coach Jeff Pitman. He achieved a state championship in his junior year with a 48-2 record and was a three-time all-state selection. His high school career culminated in a 168-27 record, including a 99-5 mark with 69 pins in his final two years, setting school records in multiple categories.At Michigan State University, Greathouse competed from 2002 to 2007. He redshirted his first year and went on to be a three-year starter. He served as team captain in his senior year.
Following his competitive career, Greathouse transitioned into coaching and education. He has served as the head wrestling coach at Brighton Area Schools and worked as a physical education teacher and community education enrichment supervisor.
Greathouse is the founder of Grappler Gold, a leading media platform covering wrestling from Georgia, New York, and Michigan. He also established the Grappler Fall Classic, a premier preseason wrestling tournament featuring numerous D1 NCAA Champions and All-Americans.
In 2025, he launched the MI Grappler Business Directory, connecting businesses owned by wrestlers or wrestling supporters across Michigan. Proceeds from this initiative support the Michigan Grappler NIL Program, which provides financial assistance to college wrestlers from Michigan. Additionally, Greathouse serves as the chapter secretary for the Detroit Chapter of the Wrestlers in Business Network, a nonprofit organization dedicated to leveraging the wrestling community for professional development and networking. Through his multifaceted involvement in wrestling as an athlete, coach, entrepreneur, and advocate. Tony Greathouse has made significant contributions to the sport’s growth and support.
