Outlook: Korponic is the returning state champ, but he will definitely be challenged on Saturday, likely seeing two guys ranked in the top-6. Pacheco and Carter would be a fantastic semifinal match on the top half of the bracket.

Outlook: Four of the top 6 in the state in this one. Melcher, Muhlbauer, and Stone are unranked but also tough. Returning state placer White is the favorite, and we are excited to see that top-5 matchup in the semis.

Outlook: 3 of the top 10, plus another ranked in SQ Leone. Adamo beat Quinlan in a close match last week, and we could see a rematch this week, but Stanley Anderson will be tough to get through. Leone/Adamo would be another great semi.

Outlook: Cassiday only has one career HS loss, but he will be testing this week. Davis/Witte is a really solid first round match, and Brown/Paguada will be interesting in the semis. We really hope we get to see a Cassiday/Brown finals.

Outlook: Loaded weight here with 5 of the top-7. State champ Smith is the clear favorite, but he will have to get through Stephenson/Miller and then probably either Lowry or teammate Blum in the finals. A top-10 wrestler will be sent home early in this one!

Outlook: 5 ranked wrestlers and a few others that are tough. Taylor is the favorite to win it, but he kicks off the tournament with a tough match over #13 Jackson. Foster/Breckel is a solid potential semi match on the bottom half.

Outlook: This is the only region in the state with #1, 2, 3, and 4. Not much margin for error in this one! At least one guy in the top-10 will be sent home early. Gartin/McClelland and Broderick/Galiana are incredible semis matches.

Outlook: Regional 13-4 has potentially the most parity in D4, with a lot of qualifying spots being wide open. 165 is perhaps the toughest weight in the region, with two in the top 10 and 5 ranked overall. Wenkel is the small favorite with a handful of guys in the mix.

Outlook: Absolutely loaded weight here, with #1, 3, 4, and 5 representing. Not too many weights across the state will have top-5 showdowns in both semis of the bracket. Hammond is having a tremendous year and is the favorite, but he will have his work cut out for him in this one.

Outlook: Without actually running the numbers, it looks like Regional 15-4 may have the most ranked wrestlers across the board. Seems like most weight classes have 5-6 ranked wrestlers in them. 138 is potentially the toughest, with at least two wrestlers ranked in the top 10 being eliminated before the state tournament. State champ Kimling is the favorite, while Harrington, Yanakeff, Playford, Foster, and Tinkey are all tough themselves.

Outlook: Almost every here is ranked, and 3 guys are in the top 10. Mears is the favorite, but he will have a tough potential semifinal against Ritchie. Someone in the top 14 is not advancing to the state tournament.

Outlook: The big match here would be Castillo/Gibson, but they'll both have to get through top-6 girls first. Castillo was dominant in the battle of #1 vs #2 at districts, beating Gibson by a 13-5 major decision.

Outlook: We have half of the top 10 in the state here, as well as two other ranked girls. Nearly every match will be between ranked wrestlers, and at least 2 of the top 12 in the state will not advance to Ford Field. Antaya is undefeated and is the slight favorite, but she will have her work cut out for her.

#1 Maggie Buurma (Fowlerville) SR, 32-2 vs Andrea Freling (Mt. Pleasant) FR, 6-5

Outlook: It doesn't get much tougher than this weight. 5 of the top 10 girls in the state, plus two of the top 10 pound-for-pound girls in the state. Belicia Manuel is ranked 5th in the country, and she doesn't enter as the favorite in this bracket. Should Buurma and Manuel run through gauntlets to reach the finals, we would be pumped to see that rematch. Buurma beat Manuel 8-3 last week at districts.

Region 4
