There was a lot of action this weekend in Division I college wrestling throughout the midwest. Starting on Friday, the Army Black Knights hosted the Throwdown on Yorktown where they took down Gardner-Webb 35-6. Throughout the rest of the weekend we had great dual matchups at the Journeymen Wranglemania Duals, in addition to a slew of open tournaments including the Michigan State Open, App State Open, and Bob Del Rosa Ohio Open.
Will Ebert (Binghamton) had the upset of the weekend where he took out #5 ranked and 2024 NCAA All-American Edmond Ruth (Illinois). Cameron Catrabone (Michigan / Willamsville NE) won the Michigan State FR/SO Open in dominant fashion, and the 157 lb finals of the App State Open featured an all New York matchup between Tommy Askey (Pine Bush) and Anthony Conetta (Massapequa). Then on Sunday at the Journeymen Collegiate Open there was a total of 10 pool champions coming from New York High School natives, with an additional 19 medalists!
Full breakdown below including weekend dual results, open results, other New York grapplers results, and see what New York grapplers are in the rankings and what's on the docket this week in college wrestling.
