Weekend Recap - US Open, WTT, & Ohio TOC

WEEKEND RECAP

It was a busy weekend for the Evil Empire as our wrestlers competed all across the country in Las Vegas and in West Virginia. Over in Sin City the Senior US Open, Age Level World Team Trials, and Girls High School Showcase went down where our wrestlers saw a ton of success. After a great high school season for Xavier Seabury he's now been on a tear - first finishing as an All-American at NHSCA Nationals, now following it up with a 15U US Open stop sign.

The U20 division saw PJ Duke run the gauntlet and win matches over Oklahoma State commit (and the #1 157 lb'er) Landon Robideau before beating Bishop McCort star Melvin Miller, who was ranked 2nd (behind Duke) at 165 lbs. Many Cornell commits competed at the U20 US Open and found success with Anthony Knox winning the 57kg bracket and three others finding the podium.

On the senior level we welcomed back Yianni Diakomihalis after his injury (and up a weight at 70kg) where he looked as good as ever pinning or teching his way to the finals before besting James Green. Diakomihalis now sits in Final X where the winner of the World Team Trials next month will face Yianni in a best of three at Final X. Kyle Dake competed up a weight class and lost to Zahid Valencia in the finals, but still has the opportunity to win World Team Trials and punch his ticket to Final X. Our senior women looked great and dominated 59kg where we saw Michaela Beck finish as a runner-up and Sofia Macaluso make her first senior world team.

Down in West Virginia there were five individuals to bring back titles where Devon Weber, Marcarlo Mannello, Vincenzo Mannello, Mike Welsh, and Kaleb Pollock all landed on top of the podium with 36 total podium finishes.
