Week 1 Hammer of The Week: Brady Benson (Goodrich)

Congratulations to week 1 HAMMER OF THE WEEK Brady Benson of Goodrich.  Benson, who was ranked #10 in D2, went 6-0 on week 1 with wins over returning state placer Ryan Radvansky (WW Tower), D1 #6 Garrett Forgash (BC John Glenn), and D1 #11 Ethan Manger (Bedford).

• Jackson Blum (Lowell) - #1 ranked returning state champ Blum won the GGI on Saturday and was named Outstanding Wrestler for the lower weights.  He knocked off D3 #1 Cam Chinavare 10-1 in the finals (Watch the Video).

• Mariano Lopez (Holt) - Lopez, ranked #2 in D1, scored a fall over 2x State champ and D3 #1 ranked Kade Kluce of Dundee in the finals of the GGI and pinned D3 #3 Jack Guerrero of Allendale in the semis. Click here to watch his finals win over Kluce.

• Aaron Lucio (Stevensville Lakeshore) - Returning D2 state champ Lucio knocked off returning D3 state champ Kaden Chinavare in the GGI finals, avenging a loss to Chinavare at GFC in October.  Click here to watch.  Lucio also pinned D3 #4 Buddy Leonard of Alma in the semis.

• Steve Shellenberger (Detroit CC) - Shellenberger scored an upset over #1 ranked Nick Rochowiak (Hartland) at the DCC assembly match on Wednesday (click to watch) then knocked off #4 Mikus Bishop of Harper Woods on Saturday.  He was 6-0 to start the season.
