Border Wars Christmas Duals Recap

MI MAULERS, NORTH AKRON WC, AND CONTENDERS WC WIN TITLES

Middle School
The Michigan Maulers posted a 5-0 record to earn 1st place honors in a stacked field. They started the day in a pool of 3 teams, defeating Akron WC 85-0 and the Harvey Twisters 53-20. The Maulers then advanced to an 8-team bracket to determine the eventual champion. They opened 59-13 win over BTW Blue, but things tightened up after that. In the semis they defeated BTW Red by a score of 41-38, and in the finals they capped a great day of wrestling by winning 40-25 over King Select Academy. Jordan Hamdan (100), Cameron Amine (119), Devin Trevino (155), and Ryan Ringler (175) led the way with undefeated records.

Elementary
The North Akron WC finished 1st in a field of 22 teams. The squad was challenged early, but they prevailed by a score of 44-33 over Tri-State Warriors Gold. They won their next couple of duals by wider margins, winning 48-19 over Indiana Outlaws Gold and 45-27 over Michigan Maulers. Next up they wrestled Contenders WC Blue in the semifinals, and advanced by a score 39-34. Finally, North Akron won an epic 37-36 dual over BTW Red to complete their championship run. Logan Ours (75) and Cole Spencer (105) both had standout performances and finished the day unbeaten.

3rd Grade & Under
Contenders WC posted a 6-0 record to win the team title here. They were dominant in their initial duals, beating Team Funky Monkey 62-0 and All American WC 55-9. After their initial pair of duals, the team was placed in a championship round robin pool with 4 other teams. They began with a 43-12 win over Team Renegades, followed by 28-16 win over Battle Cats Orange and a 33-24 win over Tri-State Warriors. Then, Contenders ended the day in impressive fashion, beating Team Michigan Mafia 57-6 to put the finishing touches on their spotless record. Individually, Luke Rioux (43), Kaden McConnell (80), and Drew Mills (HWT) all finished with 6-0 records.
