The Bracket- Class 6A
#10 Lee Co vs #3 North Forsyth
#8 Glynn Academy vs #1 Woodward Academy
#11 Newnan vs #7 Creekview
#5 Lassiter vs #2 South Effingham
All season long we have talked about how competitive and balanced 6A was, and just how wide open it is in predicting a Champion. Well part of the fun was stolen from us with the terrible Sectional Bracket draws, as 2 of the top teams are sitting at home this weekend because they drew into 2 other top teams. With that being said, 3 teams have kind of distanced themselves from everyone else, North Forsyth, Woodward, and South Effingham. Creekview has moved closer to those top 3 in recent weeks, but i just don't think they are quite on that level just yet.
Quarterfinals
There should be some great individual matchups through out the quarterfinal round, but the top 4 seeds should all advance with close, but not too close, victories. North Forsyth will probably have the toughest match, as Lee Co has 5 wrestlers in their lineup that are as good as anyone in their weight, but the Raiders depth from top to bottom will carry them through.
Semifinals
Creekview can cause matchup nightmares for a lot of teams, however, I don't think South Effingham is one of those teams. Look for the Mustangs to knock off the Grizzlies by around 18-20 points. However the Woodward vs North Forsyth Dual has the potential to be one of the best semifinal matches in the entire State of Georgia. Both teams have ranked guys at almost every weight, both teams finished 2nd at the State Duals last year, but in the end Woodward will advance behind the flexibility of their lineup by a 31-30 margin.
Consolation Rounds
Lee Co over Glynn Academy
Lassiter over Newnan
Creekview over Lee Co
North Forsyth over Lassiter
3rd Place Match
North Forsyth is able to overcome the devastating semifinal lose to knock off Creekview for 3rd. It won't be near as large as their margin of victory in mid December, but they will still pull it out.
Finals
Woodward vs South Effingham will pit two teams against each other that have virtually identical lineups, strength against strength and weak spots against weak spots. Lineup manipulation will be the key to victory in this job, and their aren't many better at that than Woodward's coaching staff. The key to this dual could very well be which team wins the flip before the match begins. Ill take Woodward in another close one 31-27.
Final Standings
1. Woodward Academy
2. South Effingham
3. North Forsyth
4. Creekview
