12/2- Muskegon Community College is off to a strong start in 2014 and it was reflected in the latest national JUCO rankings which has the Jayhawks pegged as the third best team in the country. They boast nine wrestlers who are ranked in the top-10 of their respective weight classes. Leading the way is 141-pound sophomore Zack Cooper (Chippewa Hills/Whitehall) who is ranked number one in the nation.
MCC is coming off victories over Division 3 in-state powers Olivet and Alma on November 23 and will look to carry the momentum to the National Duals in early January. To see the Jayhawks in action, be sure to check them out at the Rick Stenberg Memorial Duals at Reeths Puffer HS on January 15.
Additionally, defending National Champion Freddie Rodriguez maintained his number one ranking at 125 lbs, as well as Lowell grad Taylor Kornoely, who earned the top nod at heavyweight. To check the full list of MI natives represented in the polls, see below.
